Yes, I echo it all. Fantastic day made all the better by everyone who attended. Special thanks go to Mike for calling for me, Brandon and Eddy for judging and giving valuable feedback, the organisers for getting everything perfect including the lack of rain.

I have to echo all the thanks, especially to Ross, not only for organising it with the help and support of the Bedford club, but also for calling for me snd giving advice.     Eddy and Brandon, you did a sterling job all day in judging and thanks for the feedback.

Officially it was my 2nd comp, but the 1st one last year at Phoenix I was on my own so no one to chase.

Lots for me to learn and improve in (1 lesson learned... My brain clearly can't cope with trying to change my spin technique during a comp, but I'd like to think I provided entertainment value on the last spin 🤣).

Looking forward to trying to make some changes and practice before the next one .. can't wait.

Thanks also to everyone for general chats/banter ... a very welcoming environment.

Cheers all

Darren

Great feedback on flights plus keeping things in perspective and enjoying the flying.

Thanks, Brandon

One other thing on judging for the p25 pilots.

8. Integrated rolls.

The Clubman class has a loop.  No disrespect to that class but relatively easy (that is why it is in the clubman class).

The A25 has a half roll to inverted (a straight line) and outside loop then (after a straight line of equal length to the first straight line) a half roll to upright. A little harder and more opportunities to downgrade.

P25 has a loop with a half roll integrated in the second quarter loop and a half roll opposite integrated into the third quarter loop. Much, much harder than either of the clubman or A25 loops. Why is it harder?  Because it is difficult doing integrated rolls through looping manoeuvres.

When it comes to judging I will give more downgrades to a pilot who does NOT try or demonstrate an attempt to integrate the rolls in the loop (and simply does two fast half rolls at a certain point in each of the two quarter loops) than I will to a pilot who genuinely attempts to integrate the manoeuvre and botches it up.

Why?  Because the former is almost doing a wrong manoeuvre by not attempting to integrate the rolls.  Whereas the latter pilot is genuinely attempting to do the manoeuvre.

As proof that integrated rolls are difficult F25 has 6 out of 17 manoeuvres with integrated rolls. 35% of the manoeuvres have integrated rolls - because they are difficult. More difficult than pure knife edge manoeuvres.

Thanks .. on A25 for some reason I thought the roll had to be immediately before and after the loop,  not with a straight line after the first half roll and before the last half roll.
Somewhere else I've been throwing points away  :( ... think I need to do some more reading

A great competition and venue. Thanks to Ross and team for organising such a well run event. Thanks to the judges for their feedback and sitting through all those flights in an extremely bright sky.

Better late than never but many thanks for the judging feedback Brandon. Sadly I recognised many of the comments ref my own flying. :-[  Mental note to self' "Must try harder/practise better!"  :)
