Many thanks for the advice Greg, I will do my best to act upon it. Can I ask you please to be my caller at Bedford and Colmworth, if you are going to be there? I noticed that you had caught the sun yesterday and I hope that you soon feel better. I did have some sun screen in my box but forgot to put it on. In future feel free to ask me for it when needed.

On Peter and Graham's behalf after much trauma here are the full results of yesterdays competition, P and P & F in next post.

Thanks Phil and Graham.

I have now raised a query with the Chairman, Secretary, Competition Secretary and Chief Judge on how the results of P&F at a National League competition are to be assessed.  Currently, I am told, that the rules for Centralised are that the best P and F count towards the score.  Whereas, at National League level the rules imply the best 2 flights count regardless of whether an F is included.

Once I get clarification, I can confirm the Knettishall P and F result.  Till then - hold your horses!

I thought at centralised it was your best two.  Could be two P.  It was last year and don't remember if anything changed at the AGM.

Not sure about National League

At the first centralised Keith, Jim and Pete counted both Ps rather than a P and an F.

And finally, when was it decided National could run P and F ?  I thought it was F only at  National comps.

Admittedly I couldn't make the AGM so maybe the change was made there.

Hi Everyone

I got round to reading the UKF3A Competition Rules around 9 pm last night and found out that P&F is not on the list of classes to be offered at a National League competition.  I also got the same information this morning from Kevin Caton with the advice that, in the circumstances, the score should be settled as the best 2 of 3.  Since the issue was raised by Eugene who wasn't flying in P&F but not Pete who was, I propose to follow the best 2 of 3 for determining the result of the P&F competition.

The results as posted by Phil Lewis are now confirmed.

Thank you Brandon and Al who also flagged up the error of offering P&F at National League level.

I have amended the September Knettishall National League competition to read FAI F.

I note that all bar one of the National League competitions on the Forum are offering P&F and so those CDs might also like to take note of the relevant rule from our Competition Rules (the rules are on the Information tab on the website or else just follow this link).  The reference is Para 3.7 the relevant part of which I have attached below:

3.7 GBRCAA National League Competitions

3.7.1 GBRCAA National League competitions will be added to the competition calendar by the Competition Secretary, published on the UKF3A web site and advertised on the BMFA web site. The following classes shall be offered:

• Clubman
• Intermediate
• Masters
• FAI (P Only)
• FAI (F Only)

3.7.2 The format and rounds to count shall be as follows:

• 4 Rounds – best 3 from 4
• 3 Rounds – best 2 from 3
• 2 Rounds – best 1 from 2
• 1 Rounds – the 1 round will count

Regardless, it sounds like a good Knettishall comp again. Well done Peter and all who flew.

Thanks for letting me come along to watch Peter.

For what it's worth, I was seeing a 22 mph tailwind on the way home @ 1500'

Regards Richard

Hi Richard

Good to see you.  Next time will you be bringing an F3A aircraft with you to fly in the competition?

22 mph at 1,500 ft sounds about right for what we were dealing with at about 1,000 ft!    I think it reached that at ground level on a few occasions as the wind speed was augmented by thermal generated winds which added a good deal of gustiness!
