Hi Mike,
Entry and payment sent.
Best wishes
Stephen
Notice of change of date.
I am still waiting for the club committee to approve but expect the Leicester comp will move back to the following weekend to avoid a clash with the Triple Crown in Ireland. Watch this space and I hope to confirm very soon.
Mike
Please now note the new date
Mike
Hi Mike, I'm sorry I'm away on holiday from Friday 26th September so I won't be able to make the new date.
Best wishes
Stephen
Hello All,
I am just starting to be a little concerned by the lack of entries for this year's Leicester comp (I have 2!).
The revised date is all agreed with the club.
Please consider either entering asap or, if you are intending to enter, please post or PM in the first instance so I can monitor the level of interest.
Those of you who have flown there before will know of the great facilities and surroundings available at Leicester (Gumley).
Thank you,
Mike
Hi Mike
I am planning to enter this comp, but to early at this time to officially enter
Thank you for your response Ken
It is now just 4 weeks until the Leicester competition and I have just 4 confirmed entries and a couple of maybes.
I must now set a deadline to ensure the viability of the competition.
I will require a bare minimum of 10 paid up entries by 11th September.
Otherwise I must release the facilities back to the club for normal club flying.
Mike.
I'll enter to make the comp viable.
Brandon
Not sure I fully get what the National League is about, but I'd like to enter if that's possible (and I don't want Graham to be lonely ;D )
Is there any criteria I need to meet, to be able to enter?
Thanks
Darren
Hi Darren,
National League simply means the comp counts towards the UKF3A league tables or, in the case of P&F pilots flying in a centralised comp towards the BMFA Centralised league.
Leicester is both, unlike say the Finale at Phoenix that doesn't count to the tables.
It would be great to see you at Leicester (Gumley) and I'm certain Graham would welcome some opposition 🤣
Thanks Mike ... I'll get the form and money sorted tonight
Hi Darren,
That's brilliant, looking forward to seeing you there 👍
Form completed and money sent
What is easier for the admin teams?
1. For me to pay for the Leicester Gumley comp and to be refunded for the cancelled Ashbourne comp?
OR
2. For my Ashbourne entry fee to be transferred to the Leicester Gumley comp?
Thanks
Brandon
Hi Mike can you put me on the list for this one? Cheers
Hi Mike, If my rescinded Nats entry can be transferred, would you add me to the list as well please
thanks
Keith
Hi Keith,
Please just submit your formal entry and also please PM Javad with a request to transfer your payment across.
Thanks, Mike
Just 2 days to go now until my deadline of 11th September and so far I have just 6 paid up entries but a further 5 who have expressed an interest in entering.
If the latter group could now please submit your formal entries by midnight on Thursday (11th September) it would be appreciated and the competition arrangements can proceed.
Additional entries will of course be welcomed until the usual cut off a few days prior to the comp but I do seek a minimum of 10 confirmed entries by 11th.
Mike
I have entered.
I have in the comments of the entry form said use my fee from the cancelled Ashbourne competition.
Bests...
Brandon
Thank you Brandon 👍
After a failure of my Contra last night, there's a chance I may have to pull out. Keep me in for now as I'm desperately trying to get back in the air, but wanted to make you aware.
Thanks,
Darren
Entered
Hi Darren,
I have been following the various posts and hope you get something sorted to get you back in the air soon. In the meantime thank you for keeping me informed.
Mike
Thank you all for your entries. We met the deadline and the comp will run. Thank you to Brandon for his offer to judge.
More offers to judge would be gratefully received, notably for P&F.
Does anyone know the whereabouts of the large brollies for the judges? If they are at Bucky I can collect before the comp.
Hello Mike. Im coming as a helper now so would be available to judge all except p only if it's any help.
Garry
Thanks Garry, I will put you to judge Masters plus P&F. Be great to see you there 👍
Brollies are in the store at Buckminster. Manny should be able to open it for you
Thanks Al 👍
👍👍
Hi Mike, sorry I wont be able to make the comp this weekend.
Dan
Flight orders will be posted later today.
Tea and coffee will be available all day on a self service basis but please bring you own mug if possible.
And inded here they are, in the order they will be flown.
At least I'm not first off 🤣🤣
To assist the pilots who are judging I have decided to change the order in which the classes are flown. P25 will fly first followed by A25 and finally P&F. The flight order within each class will remain as it is. With just 11 pilots it will be possible to manage any pilot/caller adjacency.
In addition we will aim for reasonable breaks between rounds.
On Mike's behalf here are the scores from today's competition at Leicester MAC.
Thanks to Mike and Leicester MFC for running such an enjoyable event today. Excellent flying from 2026 team pilot Brandon Ransley with a lovely display of P27. Congratulations also to Darren (A25) and Dave (P25) as well!
See you at Ashbourne next week!
Keith
Very enjoyable day today with three rounds completed after a short delay for low cloud. Even flew without my coat on at times.
Well done and thanks to all who contributed.
Mike and Kazie
The club. Tea and coffee available throughout the day. As well as use of the excellent flying facilities.
Phil "Notaumatics" Lewis
Chris and Garry (and Keith and Brian) for judging.
Steve for calling for me.
Crosswind blowing in was catching many pilots out and forcing them too close. Need to practise in crosswinds.
It only takes one error to lose it for several manoeuvres afterwards. By way of example in the P25 a pilot
* over rolled on the humpty on the way up.
* that meant the humpty was downgraded but also the over roll meant the humpty came in with the half outside loop and also drifted in.
* downgrade for box infringements
* next manoeuvre was loop with two half rolls. Started very close and got even closer as drifted in through the rolls.
* next manoeuvre half square on corner was angled out but was also rushed and did not use enough box and pulled over at the top very close to centre.
* meaning the half clover had no straight line before the pull down to vertical; had a very tight radius at the top. Still missed centre. Rest of clover was still too close and rushed.
*Only recovered depth on the Reverse ET.
So one relatively minor error on an end manoeuvre caused issues in the next three.
Mike and Kazie
Excellent day had by all, well organised and great facilities.
Many thanks
Brico
