Knettishall is a disused WW2 airfield and an ideal F3A site courtesy of the Bury MFC. The take off and landing area is tarmac and of a good size. Knettishall is approximately 12 miles to the NE of Bury St Edmunds.
If you click on this link (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.3753127,0.877829,1284m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en)it will bring up the airfield in Google Maps.
Please note there is a new route in which is essentially on the western side of the airfield and using the perimeter track to get around to the pits area. Please see the attached PDF that has 3 views that give a number of key directions. I have included the Lat Long and the What3Words descriptions of the key points.
At the correct entrance to the airfield, you see the UKF3A Signpost. The Gate will be unlocked from soon after 7 am. If you get lost, please call me on 07725-314 950.
DO NOT USE A POST CODE - YOU MAY BE TAKEN TO THE WRONG ENTRY GATE!
There will be the usual catering service to provide hot and cold drinks and snacks all day starting with egg and bacon baps at 08:30 and a BBQ for lunch at £5 per head. I will collect the money on the day. Please let me know if you will not be partaking of this service by posting on this thread.
Clubman and Intermediate schedules in this competition will be open to BMFA members holding an A certificate. Other Schedules require a BMFA B Certificate.
Clubman Entrants particularly welcome.
If you would like to judge, please let me know as soon as possible. This could be either as a pilot judge or pure judge. Normal fees for judging will be paid for non-flying judges.
All GBRCAA schedules to be flown, including an F only entry list.

Currently, there are only 7 entries for this competition that is just over 2 months away.
I could really do with a lot more entries as well as offers to judge it.
Thanks.
Hi Peter I did send in an entry have you received it?
Adrian
Hi Adrian
I have just checked my CD report and there is no entry from you for the 14 Sep Knettishall competition. Do you want to re-enter?
Cheers
Peter
Hi All
Notwithstanding Adrian's post above, I currently only have 7 entries for this competition. If I do not get any more entries then running the competition with pilot judges becomes close to impossible.
I would really like to have another minimum of 5 entries to be able to run a pilot judge competition.
I am going to draw a deadline of 31st August so I can give the host club 2 weeks notice if I have to cancel.
Please do consider flying in this competition. The Club now has a new much larger container clubhouse and a second container will have both male and female flush toilets. There is space in the large clubhouse for cooking facilities and so we won't need to rely on gazebos to house the BBQ.
Fingers crossed that more entries will be forthcoming. PLEASE
Thanks to Brandon for volunteering to judge.
In addition to more entries, I also need another judge, specifically for the P schedule otherwise this will not be a viable competition.
I know it's unorthodox but I'm happy to be the sole judge.
Judge, Jury and Executioner.
Thank you Brandon, it might come down to that!
Anyone any objections should that have to be the case?
I have no objection and it may be the only way the comp can proceed if there's a low entrant number.
Brandon is more than qualified for the role.
At least it makes it easy to see which judge gave you the score ;D
Peter and I are encouraging local pilots to enter Clubman/Intermediate but there's currently little interest.
Brandon, thanks for your offer.
Thanks Mark.
Thanks to Brandon's kind offer, support from Mark and no pushback from anyone else for a single judge, I am going ahead with the Knettishall competition. I believe that there is one more entrant, probably in Clubman, so we will have 8 competitors.
I will run 3 rounds so it will be a relaxed day and Brandon will get some decent rest periods between the rounds.
If you know of anyone who might enter, please encourage them to do so.
Our usual catering team has confirmed they are happy to provide the sustenance for the day and they will be operating from inside the new Bury MFC Club house - a huge container size Portakabin. There will be a second portacabin that, fingers crossed, should have separate ladies and gents flush toilets!
Don't forget that it will be £5 on the day to me if you want to partake of breakfast, and lunch with teas and coffees all day long.
Please look at the map of how to access Knettishall in the first post and only use that entrance please. The other way in goes through a different land lord's land and he's not happy to have people using that entrance.
Peter
I'm happy to judge all pilots and all rounds.
Brandon
Many thanks Brandon. I'll make sure you have frequent breaks and are well fed and watered! The only thing I cannot provide is wind break as the WW2 concrete runway is not to easy to bash pins into. We have used cars as windbreaks before though!
Here on Peter's behalf are the final details for Saturday's competition.
Order of schedules to flown in all 3 rounds:- MASTERS, INTERMEDIATE, CLUBMAN, FAI P-25
Flight orders for P-25 pilots attached.
There will be adequate breaks between all 3 rounds with a LUNCH BREAK following completion of round 2
On Peters behalf here are the scores from today's compeition.
Phil
Many thanks for organising a great comp yesterday Peter, to Brandon for a sterling job on judging all flights and to Graham for running the Notaumatics.
Thanks to the others that provided the catering and lookout.
The new clubhouse and flushing toilet are great upgrades by club members and Mark and Peter.
Thanks to Yaz for calling for me and finally thanks to Zeus, who provided some absolutely stunning weather ... a wonderful day.
Mike
Thanks to everyone who made yesterday's competition possible, it had a nice relaxed pace and we enjoyed sunny weather too.
Really appreciate Brandon's judging marathon and feedback.
Hope to see many of you there next year, spread the word :)
I would also like to add my thanks to all involved.
It's a great comp at a great venue with great food so I will definitely be there next year.
Simon
A very enjoyable and well run comp at Knettishall with the usual excellent food and coffees/teas.
I enjoyed judging. The sun was out but there was a strong breeze blowing out from over the left shoulder which caused some problems in maintaining depth.
This comp really deserves more entrants as it really is well organised at an excellent site.
Brandon

Thanks Beryl and Graham. I will get my CD report and the captions for the photos done by the end of the week - you'll have to guess which week!
