Knettishall is a disused WW2 airfield and an ideal F3A site courtesy of the Bury MFC. The take off and landing area is tarmac and of a good size. Knettishall is approximately 12 miles to the NE of Bury St Edmunds.
If you click on this link (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.3753127,0.877829,1284m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en)it will bring up the airfield in Google Maps.
Please note there is a new route in which is essentially on the western side of the airfield and using the perimeter track to get around to the pits area. Please see the attached PDF that has 3 views that give a number of key directions. I have included the Lat Long and the What3Words descriptions of the key points.
At the correct entrance to the airfield, you see the UKF3A Signpost. The Gate will be unlocked from soon after 7 am. If you get lost, please call me on 07725-314 950.
DO NOT USE A POST CODE - YOU MAY BE TAKEN TO THE WRONG ENTRY GATE!
There will be the usual catering service to provide hot and cold drinks and snacks all day starting with egg and bacon baps at 08:30 and a BBQ for lunch at £5 per head. I will collect the money on the day. Please let me know if you will not be partaking of this service by posting on this thread.
Clubman and Intermediate schedules in this competition will be open to BMFA members holding an A certificate. Other Schedules require a BMFA B Certificate.
Clubman Entrants particularly welcome.
If you would like to judge, please let me know as soon as possible. This could be either as a pilot judge or pure judge. Normal fees for judging will be paid for non-flying judges.
All GBRCAA schedules to be flown, including an F only entry list.

Hi Folks
In order to get the use of Knettishall this year, I had to agree to double the usual fee. So, I really do need to get some more entries.
Also, I need to start on the nagging for Judges. I will put myself down to judge F25 but I don't think as CD I can spend any more time judging.
Thanks for your help.
On the judging front, we have:
- Intermediate to FAI(P) 6 pilots - Garry P and Kevin C
- FAI(F) 5 pilots - Eugene A and Peter J
Thanks for stepping forwards folks and apologies to the F pilots for me doing the judging!
Hi Folks
There is one week to go to this competition. There are still places so please do consider entering and flying in this competition.
Would those who have entered and will be bringing another person with them who would like to partake of the BBQ, please let me know so that I can warn off the catering team with some numbers based on reality. I have already communicated with Pete Madden so no need to respond Pete.
Peter
Hi Peter, could I book in for food for Garry, Eugene and myself cheers Eddy.
Consider it done Eddy.
Any others have extra mouths to feed?
I'll be on my own but I'd be grateful for the chance to have some food from the BBQ.
No problem Kevin. Just grease my palm with £5! :)
Good evening folks
Looking at Saturday's weather forecasts, it would appear that it's pretty much nailed on as being windy with showers, some of which might be heavy.
In the circumstances, and unless there is a major change in the forecast such as the front coming through on Thursday repeating itself, it was my intention to go ahead with the Knettishall Competition. There have been many events in the past where the rain went passed on either side of the airfield and a few when it didn't! However, if we are not there, then we will not be able to take advantage of any weather windows that are offered.
Could I ask if all entrants to post whether they wish to proceed or not on this site. Given that we have the Notaumatics being fed as I write, please could you respond as soon as possible. Ideally, by 9 pm this evening (Weds 12th June). Sorry about the rush!
Peter
Proceed!
OK by me, good character building (sorry KC)
Please see flight orders posted on Peter's behalf.
Flight order:-
Intermediate, Masters, P-25, F-25 with an extra 4th flight for Simon in Intermediate at the end of round 3
Hi Peter - I have only just seen this! It's a bit late now but I would have said go ahead anyway, as you say we might just be lucky!
My only concern is keeping the plane dry if it gets wet and windy - I have a tarpaulin at the ready but it is a bit difficult to manhandle in the wind!
Whatever happens, I am looking forward to it
Simon
Thanks Simon, Graham and Dan for your comments.

Hi Simon, there will be plenty of help handling tarpualins so no problem there. Most of our area is tarmac with a thin grassy strip so it's not always as simple as pegging them down. If the weather turns bad we can use the larger grassed area for covering models. I'm sure we will sort it out.
Sorry I missed the message but happy to come along and see how it goes.
Thanks Brandon.
I'm a "yes" too.
We'll be there Peter
Coffee would be very nice in wet day ;-)), so we all go for it :-))
On Peters behalf here are the results for the Knettishal Intermediate, Masters and FAI P-competition.

Thank you Graham and Phil.
Apologies to Eugene and Mark for getting their placings wrong!
Really enjoyable comp. Thanks to Peter for organising and to the club for making the venue available and for the excellent food and drinks through the day.
For anyone who hasn't been it's a very good site and great hospitality.
Incredibly tough conditions with rain and strong winds and distant thunder and lightning. But we got three full rounds in and everyone coped with the tough conditions.
Thanks to the judges, photographer, notaumatics maestro, my caller and those who helped me assemble and disassemble the Leader. A biplane is much more hassle than a mono. Also to those who put a rain sheet over the Leader when it started to rain when I was calling for Kevin Caton (who insisted that he kept flying).
Until next time ....
Thanks for posting those kind words Brandon.
I still have a lot of space for the September 14th Knettishall competition which is open for entries.

Just to add to Graham's note above, my CD report is also available on that link.
Nice report and sorry to hear about your incident.

All sorted now Mike and the Anthem flew well today.
Well done, you have had some aircraft challenges over the past months but you can't keep a good man down!
Mike
You are very kind Mike.
